You know, the thing about slogging through so many hard things at once, is when you're down in it, you forget what it looks like to everybody else.
I'm way too overloaded right now to give you a long journal (thank goodness, right?) but I'm feeling pretty immensely happy with the support I've gotten lately.
So I'm applying for this pretty good sized grant through a coalition of veterans and farmers. Part of the application process requires letters of recommendation, and I hit up four people for one, thinking I'd be lucky if I got one out of them.
All four of them have written a letter of recommendation now, and I was absolutely astounded about the level of faith, encouragement, and respect which they put into those letters. I read them and had to sit down and get a little steamy behind my glasses, because I hadn't really expected them to be so... profuse.
It was a much needed bolster in self confidence, especially after this term with the professor who has been so overwhelmingly negative towards me.
I appreciate every one of you who has posted a positive word here. Some days seem devastatingly hard to get through, and knowing that I can call a number of you up at odd am hours, talk the ear off a few of you during weekends, and b.s. with any of you over the internet at any point is just wonderful. My ranch started as an idea shared with all of you, and it's become reality. I feel very fortunate to share this journey with such an incredible community as all of you.
In other happy news, my beautiful Albino rescue girl has finally found her forever home! Abby goes off to join her new family in the next week here. What a relief it is to finally place this senior girl into a great new life.
